Weekend {Update}

Friday night Z and I ... you guessed it, stayed home and enjoyed Chili Cheese Dogs and watched Act of Valor.

My Chili Cheese Dogs are pretty amazing, they are also kid and Z approved which is always welcomed in our house!

Act of Valor was a very different movie but Z and I both really liked it.

One of Z's friends had prepped us before hand and told us not to expect it to be "movie" like but more like a documentary. This movie really makes me wonder how many plots against America there are every day that we probably know nothing about.

Saturday morning after mine and Louie's morning walk I made Z and I Chocolate Chip Buttermilk Pancake Baked Oatmeal (try saying that 3 times fast) - you can find the original recipe here on this super cool food blog I stumbled upon on....pinterest, shocking I would find ANYTHING on pinterest, I know!

Here is my rendition:

You will need:
1/3 C old fashioned rolled oats
1/2 tsp unrefined granulated sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1/2 C low fat buttermilk
1 egg white
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
2tbsp chocolate chips
pure maple syrup (or just regular syrup since even the off brand maple syrup is a bit pricey)

Stir together:
oats
sugar
baking powder
salt

In a separate bowl stir together:
buttermilk
egg white
vanilla extract

Then combine:
wet and dry mixtures, then stir in chocolate chips (Next time I may just do 1 tbsp of chocolate chips because two was very rich)

Place mixture in lightly greased ovenproof bowls

And VIOLA! Yummy filling breakfast for only 243.1 calories!!!
This recipe is for one so you will have to double it if you want to make more!

Saturday I also ran 15 million errands which included THE WALMART (which sad to report no crazies this time), our grocery bill was a whopping $24.24 and this was not due to couponing people (which I am really wanting to get into BY the way!)

I also got fitted for the first time for a bra - ladies if you have not done this before ya got to be goin' to Ms. VS and gettin' measured!

I never realized I didn't know how to wear a bra properly - at 25 years old that is a little sad....

Sunday Z and I went to church and then parted ways....he went to play golf and I went to see my grandmother and went to a friend's baby shower!

This again was such a nice relaxing weekend, which helps since we have been crazy busy during the week!

I'm No {Fool}

So as you guys and gals know since I am still recovering from my little surgery I have started walking to get some type of exercise in.

Last week I walked 3 times - I know go me! (fyi me walking outside in the 396 degree Texas weather is a big deal...who I am kidding...me working out is a big deal)

The past 2 Monday's I have walked with some of my co-workers. Yesterday there were only two of us because our office manager who normally walks with us was off.

Anywho, I was seriously dragging from our fun night at my parents house and just me being a lazy slug in general.

As my co-worker and I are getting to our half way point, we have to walk under this sketchy bridge that reeks of fish and nasty water.

Me being the crazy person that I am notice 2 people to our left out, one is completely laid out on a bench and the other is just sitting there starring at the passed out person.

As I see them I just start randomly talking about trains to my co-worker so that we can seem like we are in one SERIOUS conversation and not be to messed with.

As we pass them I tell her I am soo sorry for just pulling trains to talk about out of my butt, BUT those two people gave me a weird feeling and I did not feel like laying anyone out after walking in the heat for so long.

As we get to our half way point and turn around to walk ALL THE WAY back to where we came from, I notice that the person who was sitting starring at the passed out person was gone.

I tell my co-worker...."just put a face on like I will "F" you and "F" your life up" on and I think we will be okay. Also while we are passing I notice the person who is laid out on the bench is not breathing, which in my mind makes me think they want us to come over and check on them and then the other is going to jump out of no where and kid nap us!

At this point my heart is racing so fast so I decide that we need to run....people, I DO NOT RUN FOR ANYTHING!!! Not even if you are chasing me to kill me...I just don't run.

Needless to say the twins got a bounce session they were not ready for and we are still alive....

Moral of the story....
Always have a walking partner in sketchy parts of Fort Worth
Possibly need to invest in mace
and always always remember your best sports bra in case God forbid you have to run!

**disclaimer - the person who was laid out on the bench was not dead....she starting talking to someone after we passed by (probably letting them know we got away too quickly)**

**additional disclaimer - my mother used to scare the crap out of me telling me someone would take me if I didn't stay by her side....needless to say thanks to her and too many lifetime movies I am still scared to death someone is going to kid nap me...yes even at 25**

Weekend {WEEKEND} Weekend

Z and I were very eventful this weekend....the past 2 Fridays we have just hung out at home and I think we will start doing that from now on.

Being able to come home and relax and not have to rush to dinner or anywhere else is sooooo nice!

For dinner Friday I made Manicotti!

It was super yummy! Here is my recipe that I threw together:

E's Manicotti!

Boil manicotti shells per directions on box
Mix entire bowl of ricotta cheese, 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, 3 tablespoons of basil pesto, 2 eggs, salt and pepper
Once shells are cooled from boiling stuff with ricotta mixture and top with spaghetti sauce
Bake at 350 for 30 mins...top with mozzarella cheese and bake for an additional 10 mins.
And ENJOY!

(I completely forgot to to take a pic of the final product!)

Saturday morning after Louie and I went on a walk, I made Z and I biscuits with gravy (gravy from a packet of course, I have not mastered homemade gravy yet)

I should seriously be voted "Wife of the Year"....just saying.

After cleaning our house and running errands we decided to drive over to our weekend home aka my parents house....

Look at their pool..who wouldn't want to spend time here?? My parents also feed us really well when we are there!

While lounging by the pool Z and I bought the new Bud Light Lime, Lime-a-Rita. It is really good - definitely needs to be served over ice!

We also played 3 games of Corn hole....

my mom and I definitely lost all 3 games.

Acer enjoyed our "weekend" home as well....he loves lounging by the pool working on his tan

Louie was a little wild man the whole time we were there....

and even decided to jump on the pool float and float around the pool on his own.

after a full night of fun and church on Sunday we all pretty much looked like Ace....

I hope you all had a great weekend!!!
